Version: Mid-game, after his death by Zack Fair, but before Zack's own death.

Appearance: An angel? Just an ordinary country boy? Or perhaps a combination of the two.

A man of high stature, Angeal is almost never seen without his SOLDIER, First Class attire. Completely left as is (as the other Firsts have added some... unique attatchments to theirs), Angeal's attire consists of a heavy, fleece, sleeveless turtle-neck held together by two steel paldrons upon the shoulders and thick leather straps leading down to the enormous steel SOLDIER belt upon his torso. The belt serves to cover and protect the lower half from any serious injury or gunfire, and proudly bears the official ShinRa SOLDIER unit emblem. The turtle-neck and pants are pitch-black and made of a certain type of fleece; practical when blood does not show up as much and deter combat. Angeal's gloves are black as well, made of a strong type of leather, meant to endure even the roughest of swordplay. The same could be said for his boots, aside from them being a deep, deep shade of brown rather than actually black.

Body-wise, Angeal is built like a tank, reaching heights of a whopping 6'2-6'3 and having very tan skin from years and years of outdoor missions. Jet-black hair slicked back, and spiked some in the back, though it's hardly noticeable, two small tufts of hair hang from the front of his face as bangs. Perhaps the most noticeable thing to note about Angeal (other than the fact of him just beginning to grow a beard at the near-age of thirty), are the remarkable, glowing, sky-blue eyes as a result of having been infused with mako upon his acceptance into SOLDIER. While most would comment that it would be a rarity, Angeal would shrug it off, claiming that it was normal for him.

Though, perhaps the next section would claim he was far, far from normal.

There is also one final pecular detail to note about Angeal Hewley; that being the two pure-white wings shooting out from his right shoulder-blade. One wing tends to have a far more impressive span than the other, and can somehow be easily used as flight. The wings would be a result of the Jenova experiments, which will be explained further in the application.

Personality: 'Our goal is to eliminate all that creates suffering.'

Angeal's attitude on life is very swift and straight to the point, not being one to beat around the bush. But at the same time, he can be a very patient man, preferring to wait and calculate whatever situation he may be in before diving in head-first. Because of this, he can be silent at times, stoic, or seem like a dull person to be around. If anyone believed that, they would be seriously wrong.

One unique quirk of Angeal's would be his love for dogs, earning himself a fanclub of sorts about the matter. This trait is often displayed, as he would often be seen referring to Zack as a 'restless puppy' or simply just a 'puppy'. While he would never be able to own a dog of his own, this trait is also shown later as the final clone to reach Zack after Angeal's death would be a winged hound of sorts, suffering from deterioration.

Angeal loves combat, often sparring with the other Firsts in the Training Room when others were away, or thinking of ways to make a dull mission seem a bit more exciting. He is often seen in action with the previously 2nd Class, Zack Fair, and may or may not have developed some traits and attributes during his time as the younger man's mentor.

Pride, honor, and dreams are not something to be fooled around with to this SOLDIER. Above everything else, Angeal is, canonically put, 'morally straight as an arrow', and will bring justice to those who would believe otherwise. Angeal's SOLDIER pride is absolutely number one in his book, no ifs ands or buts about it. Anything he sees as dishonourable or disgraceful, he will turn the other way or deal with it harshly.

Above all, however, once under his shell, he can be a very nice man; pleasant to talk to and have conversations. There will be the occasional instance where he will even crack a joke here or there. It simply takes time to warm up to him and gain his trust.

Abilities/Weaponry/Strengths: Angeal is naturally strong from years of combat and wielding an enormous sword, but the sheer power, sheer force would be a result of the mako experiments upon his arrival into SOLDIER, and injection of Jenova from his time in his mother's womb, a 'monster' created from Project G. Angeal can effortlessly leap a tall building, shatter a steel wall, and can move with the agility of a cat. Because of the wings, Angeal can also fly.

One of his most unique powers would be the ability to absorb and pass on his genetic traits onto others, which would eventually lead him to become Angeal Penance; a chimera created from several 'clones' born from his own cells. However, it could only be done once, and said transformation lead to his own deterioration and death.

Superpowers aside, Angeal is extremely skilled with any sword he is able to carry. Preferring not to use the Buster Sword often, as it would 'bring about wear, tear, and rust', Angeal is often seen in battle with a long, thin katana with the Buster Sword lugged around on his back. Perhaps the only ones to possibly rival him in swordplay would be the other two First Classes, Genesis Rhapsodos and the hero Sephiroth.

Angeal also has the fortunate habit of arriving just in the nick of time to save someone's butt.

Weaknesses: Angeal has an emormous guilt complex, and he will often allow it to show. Upon discovering about the experiments, Angeal has loathed himself from day one, referring to himself as a 'monster' and running off to hide from the public. He will not tolerate any attempts to cause him to believe otherwise, and can be extremely stubborn, all the way to his own grave. He is not a social person, unless it is inevitable. Most people, he will turn away from if he is not accepting of them.

There are very few instances where Angeal will allow his own emotions to cloud his judgement and make fatal mistakes, often getting in the way of where he should not be. Once on a mindset, there would be no way to deter him from whatever he is convinced of. He can be harsh at times, only serving to fuel his reputation as one of the most powerful and feared SOLDIERs ShinRa has to offer.

History: Angeal was born and raised in the distant village of Banora with his mother and his late father, befriending the other future SOLDIER First Class Genesis, until they both would be recruited into ShinRa. Before his arrival, however, the Buster Sword was given to him by his father using all of the family savings, and Angeal came to see the sword as a type of connection with his family. The sword would rarely ever be used, however, for fear of ruining it. It was not long after joining SOLDIER that Angeal met Sephiroth, and Genesis joined the two as well, all of which becoming First Class fairly quickly. Genesis often saw Sephiroth as his rival for the 'hero' spot, and Angeal would be the tiebreaker between the two of them.

Angeal's time in SOLDIER hardened him, until he came across a young SOLDIER, 2nd Class named Zack Fair. After reviewing various Training Room tapes, Angeal came to a decision and made Zack his protege after realizing that he would have much potential in the future. Angeal and Zack worked on numerous missions together until the one fateful day where they would both be assigned a mission in Wutai, to end the ongoing war. Angeal had apparently run off, in which he was believed to have betrayed ShinRa to join Genesis in an revolt.

Angeal was originally believed to have murdered his own mother in Banora, before the Turks laid waste to the village, until they had both met up with Professor Hollander and learned of his origins. Angeal was a subject in Project G, or Project Gillian, and was inherited with Jenova cells straight in the womb, causing the two wings. He was constantly referred to as 'perfection', or a perfect experiment, but Angeal believed otherwise. He saw himself as a 'perfect monster' that needed disposing of. His mother had actually taken her own life out of shame, and Angeal ordered Zack to do the same to him, actually becoming a true monster and fighting against him. He had fallen before long, and, on his dying breath, ordered Zack to hold onto his pride, handing him the prized Buster Sword that had been the most cherished part of his life.

He then passed on, a monster slain.

...but he would not recieve the pleasantry of fading into the Lifestream, as this is where I take him.
